NOLA Repurpose

Returning neglected properties to community use — with a goal of 2035.

NOLA Repurpose is 1735’s neighborhood revitalization initiative focused on helping restore underused, abandoned, and adjudicated properties back into productive community use throughout New Orleans.We believe every property has the potential to contribute something meaningful. Through research, redevelopment planning, strategic partnerships, and community collaboration, NOLA Repurpose works to help transform vacant spaces into places that support housing, local business, cultural activity, education, and neighborhood engagement.

NOLA REPURPOSE 2035

Our long-term goal is to help return abandoned, adjudicated, and underutilized properties to commerce, housing, culture, and community use by the year 2035. Every partnership, every revitalized property, and every activated space moves us closer to that goal.

Bring Them Back

History brought to life through theater, storytelling, and community performance.

Bring Them Back is 1735’s creative production and cultural programming initiative dedicated to reconnecting communities with the stories that shaped them. Rooted in theater, public history, literature, and performance, Bring Them Back creates experiences that celebrate culture, preserve memory, and inspire meaningful community engagement.Our productions are designed to bring history into accessible community spaces — including repurposed buildings, mixed-use venues, neighborhood gathering places, and cultural sites throughout New Orleans.

Our Partnership Programs connect nonprofits, ministries, artists, businesses, educators, and community organizations with opportunities to collaborate, activate spaces, and serve local communities together.These partnerships help create programs and spaces that support education, workforce development, housing initiatives, life skills training, creative engagement, and community wellness — and they help organizations extend their reach by connecting them to the resources and networks that 1735 has built.

Silver Tsunami Solutions — Launching Soon

Preparing communities for one of the largest demographic challenges in American history.

The Silver Tsunami — the rapid aging of America’s population — is one of the most significant and underaddressed challenges facing communities today. In New Orleans, this crisis intersects directly with heirs property disputes, housing instability, succession challenges, community memory loss, workforce shortages, and the growing isolation of older residents.Silver Tsunami Solutions is 1735’s forthcoming initiative dedicated to addressing these interconnected challenges through research, programming, community partnerships, and resource development. We are building this program in partnership with organizations, institutions, and community stakeholders who share a commitment to preparing neighborhoods for what is coming.
